Shikimic acid (SA), also known as 3,4,5-trihydroxy-1-cyclohexen-1-carboxylic acid, with the chemical formula C7H1005, is an important intermediate in the metabolism pathway of shikimic acid in plants and microorganisms. It can synthesize aromatic amino acids and aromatic compounds such as folic acid, vitamin K2, and pantothenic acid. Mangoxalic acid is the main raw material for the anti influenza drug oseltamivir phosphate, which also has anti-tumor, anti thrombotic, and anti-inflammatory effects. It can also be added as a growth promoter to feed.
