Mussel adhesive protein (MAP), also known as mussel foot silk protein, is a glycoprotein type mucin derived from the foot gland of mussels. It has strong adhesive properties and can form a transparent, breathable, waterproof, and elastic protective film, protecting the wound from water and microorganisms, serving as a physical barrier. At the same time, mussel mucin is also the only known protein with a high content of dopamine groups, which has good anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.
